Arsenal lining-up £27m bid for striker, as chief confirms future is uncertain

Mario Gotze

Arsenal are leading the race to sign unsettled Bayern Munich playmaker Mario Gotze this summer, the Gunners are reported to be lining up a £27m bid for the German international, according to the reports from Spain via Daily Star.

Gotze has found it difficult to establish himself at Bayern and is expected to leave the Bundesliga outfit this summer following his move from Borussia Dortmund in 2013 with the player making just 11 league starts last season.

All this has led to speculation that Gotze might be heading to the Premier League and the reports from Daily Star via Mundo Deportivo claims that Arsenal are leading the chase to sign the German international.

The 24-year-old ace earlier claimed that he is willing to stay at the Allianz stadium and fight for his future under new boss Carlo Ancelotti, but Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge suggested that the German International should consider a move as he’s unlikely to be a regular next season. He said:

“He knows what the club thinks and what the new coach thinks. Mario has to evaluate for himself whether he wants to play constantly.” Rummenigge is quoted as saying by the Star

Mundo Deportivo even suggested that Bayern are so desperate to get Gotze’s wages off their books, they are even ready to cut him out of their Champions League squad for next term in order to force him out of the team.

We can’t predict the credibility of the report but it is wondering why Bayern would treat the player who helped Germany win the World Cup not too long ago that way, but it will be positive news for the Gunners fans, as Bayern are willing to sell.

These reports are coming not long after the Sun reported that Arsenal are to offer a formal £27m bid for the German attacker and I think Bayern would welcome such offer.

With the move for Henrikh Mkhitaryan looking increasingly uncertain following his agent’s recent comments claiming the player is set to choose Man Utd ahead of Arsenal, it seems Wenger will have to turn his attention to Gotze and I think Gotze will be a good signing for the Gunners.

Another attacker is expected to come in as Theo Walcott is expected to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer and Gotze will be a great signing. If he does end up at the Emirates he will join the attack alongside Ozil and Sanchez which in itself should scare plenty of teams.
