Arsenal in talks to finalise £15m deal, after holding talks with agent

Jeison-Murillo

Arsenal have opened talks with Inter Milan over a possible £15m deal to sign central defender Jeison Murillo this summer, according to reports in the Mirror.

The majority of the players Arsenal have been linked so far this summer has been in the striking department but it is believed that Wenger is also on the lookout for a new defender and Murillo has been emerged Wenger target this summer.

Gabriel and Per Mertesacker were inconsistent last season, so we need to sign a reliable partner for Laurent Koscielny and it seems like Murillo is the defender the Gunners might end up signing.

Few reports earlier suggested that we have held talks with Jeison Murillo’s agent to discuss a possible move to the Emirates Stadium, but now it seems Wenger as stepped-up his interest in the Colombian international.

The reports from Mirror via Sky Italia claimed that the Gunners officials are now in talks with the Serie A giants and are understood to be close to agreeing on a £15m deal.

The news outlet further states that the likes of Zenit St Petersburg and Bayern Munich are also showing a keen interest in the highly rated Colombian international. The North London club have been forced to step-up their interest as Wenger is hoping to push ahead for a deal before the likes Zenit St Petersburg makes their move.

The 24-year-old ace joined Inter Milian last summer and has enjoyed a decorated season at the San Siro Stadium, but with Inter requiring to make up a £39m deficit to meet Financial Fair Play regulations, they could be ready to make a profit from the sale of the defender this summer.

It seems Wenger wants to complete the defender signing before the Gunners fly out for their pre-season tour at the end of the month, which will give Murillo the chance to train with his new team-mates ahead of next season.

It would be great if Wenger could bring in a player who has good experience in the Premier League considering the previous cases where defenders initially struggled to get a foothold in the Premier League, but I feel Murillo has enough International experience to make an immediate impact.
