Arsenal given huge Thomas Lemar transfer boost as Monaco consider sale before transfer window shuts

Lemar

Arsenal have reportedly received a boost in their pursuit of Thomas Lemar with AS Monaco seemingly considering his sale before the transfer deadline.

The Gunners have been strongly linked with France international, who shined for the Principality club last season with 14 goals and 17 assists in all competitions.

A recent report suggested that the north London club have dropped their interest in the former Caen man with Monaco reluctant to place a price on their attacker.

Moreover, vice-president Vadim Vasilyev also claimed that the player remains a vital part of their first-team plans, and this had pretty much ended speculation over the Frenchman’s future.

However, according to Le 10 Sport, the FA Cup holders still hold a chance of landing the 21-year-old with the club considering the sale of Lemar, Fabinho and Kylian Mbappe in the coming days.

Arsene Wenger, however, won’t be alone in the pursuit of Lemar this time around with Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho also keeping a close eye on the winger following his side’s failure to pursue the likes of Gareth Bale and Ivan Perisic.

Arsenal do have a lot of French connections with Olivier Giroud, Laurent Koscielny and Alexandre Lacazette having all featured alongside Thomas Lemar at the international level.

This could give them a slight edge over their league rivals, who also have the likes of Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial to boost their French contingent.

Chile international Alexis Sanchez appears set to remain at the Emirates for the final year of his contract but Wenger would still favour bringing in one of his prime targets in Lemar as he could provide an upgrade over the likes of Theo Walcott and Alex Iwobi, who are largely inconsistent with their performances.
