Arsenal might be forced to reduce £15m asking price for Kieran Gibbs

Arsenal will have to lower their asking price for England international Kieran Gibbs as they look to offload his services during the summer transfer window. The left-back was sparingly used during the Premier League campaign with just eight starts to his name.

According to The London Evening Standard, the North London are yet to receive suitable offers for their left-back with no club willing to come close to his £15m valuation.

Gibbs has managed to earn over 125 appearances in the English top flight, but despite this, his suitors believe that £15m is too much for a player approaching the final year of his contract.

Watford and Stoke City are said to be weighing up potential bids for the experienced full-back while there is also additional interest from newly-promoted pair Newcastle United and Brighton & Hove Albion.

Arsene Wenger’s side recently confirmed the signing of Schalke’s Sead Kolasinac on a Bosman agreement, and his arrival is likely to diminish Gibbs chances of earning playing time in the top flight.

Even though the Gunners plan to lower their valuation, Gibbs will likely want to earn at least £60,000 a week in wages, and this could prove to be a stumbling block for a club like Brighton, who are making their top-flight return after a 34-year wait.

Gibbs has had injury concerns over the course of his Gunners career, and this has benefited Nacho Monreal, who has taken his opportunities with both hands. The Spain international has now adapted to a new role in the back three, thus providing Kolasinac with a spot at left wing-back.

Arsenal are due to lose several other names in the transfer windown with the likes of Joel Campbell, Carl Jenkinson and Mathieu Debuchy entering the final 12 months of their respective deals.
