Arsenal ready move for Julian Draxler, after Wenger hints at new signing

Arsenal could revive their long-term replacement in Julian Draxler this summer after he was deemed surplus to requirements at Paris Saint-Germain.

The Germany international only joined Les Parisiens from Wolfsburg in the winter of 2017, but it appears that the world-record signing of Neymar will push him through the exit door.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has tried to pursue the World Cup winner since the summer of 2014, and there has not been a summer thereafter where the forward has not been linked with the club.

According to The Times, the north London giants are considering an approach for the 23-year-old winger, who could be available for around £32m this month.

Meanwhile, the likes of Inter Milan and Borussia Dortmund are also in the pursuit of the highly-rated German but both would find it hard to much his £90,000-a-week wages.

Wenger has recently suggested that he could add one ‘exceptional player‘ to the squad which is expected to see plenty of exits before the transfer deadline.

Arsenal have around 32 players in their first-team, and the manager is hoping to trim the number before bringing in one more recruit in the transfer window.

Thomas Lemar had been the prime target for the Gunners over the past month, but Monaco’s reluctance to sell could see them revive their interest in Draxler, who is potentially available on the cheap, considering the recent inflation of transfer fees.

Draxler notched five goals and four assists for Paris Saint-Germain in the second half of last season whilst helping them lift the Coupe de la Ligue and Coupe de France titles.
