Arsene Wenger talks up Sanchez contract situation and starting the Chilean against Bayern

Conflicting reports have emerged as regards the reason Alexis Sanchez was benched for the Liverpool game.

Arsene Wenger had earlier stated on the club’s official website during an interview on Arsenal’s official website that his reasons were tactically based. Here are some quotes from the piece when quizzed on benching Alexis Sanchez for the first half:

I explained after the game at Liverpool that I decided to go for a more direct option in the game. That’s what happened. That was the unique reason for my decision. All the rest, his attitude – he’s a committed player and sometimes has excessive behaviours but you have that many times in the history of every squad.

He further added on Alexis’s contract situation:

Alexis has 15 months of his contract so the decision of will he be here or not will depend completely on Arsenal Football Club and not on anybody else.

When asked whether Sanchez will start today’s game, he said;

I haven’t decided yet, you will have to come to the game [to find out]. I make that decision tomorrow morning.

Despite the seemingly embedded idea of unrest in the camp as regards Alexis Sanchez, his Instagram message, however cryptic further buttresses the understanding between the pair. This is what he had to say:

The true warrior fights not because he hates the ones in front of him, but because he loves those behind him

Let ‘ go Gunners.The only failure is not trying

Let’s just say this matter for all intents and purposes is better left alone…..For now.

Next up is Bayern Munich at the Emirates tonight. Least we can do right now is support the lads as the tie seems over even before the ball is kicked.

Then again, this is football where logical reasoning is secondary.
