Arsenal close to new signing, as club confirms star will leave

Ricardo Rodriguez

Ricardo Rodriguez’s club Wolfsburg have revealed they’ve agreed to sell after the 23-year-old superstar confirmed his interest in joining the North London outfit this summer, according to the reports from Metro.

The International Business Times reported late last month that Arsenal’s manager Arsene Wenger ready to triggering the left-back £19m release clause.

The defender quoted in the Evening Standard last week as saying he will like to follow teammate Granit Xhaka – who he shares a room with while on international duty – to Arsenal.

Following Wolfsburg eighth-place finish in the Bundesliga last season, the 23-year-old was quoted saying that him staying at the at the club this summer is “unlikely “after they missed out on any form of European football.

When he was asked about joining Arsenal, he said:

“That would be exciting, yes, especially because the room arrangement at Arsenal would be fixed as well.

Now, the Sporting Director for Wolfsburg’s, Klau Allofs has confirmed the club has agreed to sell Rodriguez after he has made it clear himself he wants to leave this summer. As quoted by the Metro, Allof said,

‘The agreement was indeed made with Ricardo. As we have recently entertained, was clear: His idea is to leave us.’

Despite being a defender Rodriguez as scored 13 goals in all appearance for the Bundesliga outfit.

The German club have long-established that the left-back wants to depart from the club, the player has confirmed he’d like a move away and the Gunners reportedly are ready to meet his buyout clause. So everything is falling in place for Rodriguez’s move to Arsenal this summer.

Without a doubt, if Rodriguez’s deal could be finalized, his arrival would definitely see Kieran Gibbs facing the exit door as he’s been listed to move after the 26-year-old has lost his place to Nacho Monreal over the past seasons.

Precisely, if the north Londoners can get around £12m for the England international, it would certainly be a great piece of business to replace him with Rodriguez as the Swiss, next season.

He would set a difficult competition for Nacho Monreal which might potentially result in the youngster taking over from the Spaniard as Arsenal first choice left-back the following year.
