Arsenal boss drops huge hint on the future of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is reportedly open to the prospect of cashing in on star duo Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil in the New Year. The pair have just eight months running on their respective contracts.

The Frenchman is hopeful that he can find a breakthrough with his leading performers, although he has not ruled out their sale during the winter transfer window.

Speaking ahead of the Watford game, he told club’s official website:

“Once you are in our kind of situation we have envisaged every kind of solution, yes”.

“It’s possible.”

Ozil has been shrouded by a minor knee injury in the early part of the campaign, and this has restricted him to just four appearances in all competitions.

The Germany international has yet to contribute a goal or assist in the current season, but he is in line to make his first start in four league outings when Arsenal make the short trip to Watford this weekend.

Meanwhile, Sanchez produced his best showing of the campaign during the 2-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion earlier this month, but there are doubts over his potential participation this weekend following his recent disappointment with Chile.

Wenger is likely to assess the mental situation of the 28-year-old attacker, but he admits that the Chilean is a ‘winner’ similarly to Aaron Ramsey, who faced a World Cup qualification exit with Wales in midweek.

Both Ozil and Sanchez have plenty of transfer interest in their services, but the latter looks the most likely to leave the New Year with Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain monitoring his developments.
