Chile international Alexis Sanchez has released a cryptic Instagram post amid talks of him edging closer to a summer Arsenal exit.

The 28-year-old started from the substitutes’ bench during the Gunners’ 3-1 loss at the hands of Liverpool over the weekend, and this has further intensified speculation of him leaving the Emirates this summer.

In the build-up to the Reds game, Arsene Wenger suggested that the decision was purely tactical, and he now appears to dismiss the alleged rift between him and the Chilean when asked on the same in today’s press conference.

“You make a [selection] decision and people always have a very emotional analysis and an emotional response to this kind of decision.,” he said.

“I wanted us to play direct and by direct I mean to win the ball in the air and to win the second ball. We do play it sometimes.”

Ligue 1 holders Paris Saint-Germain have recently emerged as favourites to pursue the Gunners’ top-scorer, but the forward has responded to the gossip via a cryptic Instagram post.

Sanchez has on occasions single-handedly earned his side all three points in the top flight, but the Gunners face a mighty, be it impossible task in the Champions League where they face a 5-1 deficit against Bayern Munich from the last 16, first-leg.

The Gunners have not got through the quarter-finals of the elite competition in the last six seasons, and it could be the seventh in the row unless the north London club clinch an improbable four goals without conceding against the German champions.

Meantime, Wenger has suggested that he will have no say on Sanchez’s situation and the final decision will be made by the authority above him, which is the club itself.

“Alexis Sanchez has 15 months on his contract so the decision will depend on Arsenal Football Club, not on anyone else.” he said.
