Jack Wilshere decides to leave Arsenal after talks with Unai Emery

Jack Wilshere

It is the day that many Arsenal fans do not want to see but come the 1st of July and Jack Wilshere is going to be playing for another team, according to reports in the Mirror.

There is a huge connect between the player and the fans and most of them will be disappointed to see him leave the club.

Despite the improved offers Arsenal put forward, it was the fact that new manager Unai Emery deemed him to be not important enough. This was the clinching factor in the decision made by Wilshere. The role that Emery had in mind for him was nowhere at the level that the player hoped it would be.

The £90,000-a-week has been dropping hints regarding his future every now and then but the decision seems to have been finalized now. It is clear that the player does not want to leave Arsenal but the circumstances are such that he will have to leave in order to find more playing time.

His path to the first team is already blocked by both Granit Xhaka and Aaron Ramsey and when you add the arrival of Lucas Torreira, it is hard to see how he will fit in.

There are many suitors that are vying for the signature of the midfielder with options from both England and abroad as well. The English teams that are keen on Wilshere include West Ham, Everton and newly promoted Wolves. Any interest from abroad is said to come from teams such as Sampdoria, AC Milan and Juventus. There has been some rumored interest from Turkish side Fenerbahce as well.

It must be mentioned that Emery did not want to get rid of Wilshere but he did not guarantee a starting spot for the Englishman. Even though Arsenal did offer him an improvement on his current deal, the lack of playing time was the deal breaker.

Any Arsenal fan that has seen Wilshere play will feel sad when he moves away. This is a man who had the potential to become one of the best midfielders of his generation but a spate of injuries put a stop to that. Wherever he goes, he will be fondly remembered by those at the club.
