Jack Wilshere jets in to finalise move, after confirming he will leave Arsenal

Jack Wilshere

Turkish football site Milliyet.com is reporting that Jack Wilshere has been spotted in Istanbul and has been meeting with the sporting director of Fenerbahce.

Since Jack Wilshere announced that he would be leaving Arsenal this summer after an impressive 17 years at the North London club, fans and pundits have been speculating where the Englishman will end up, with most outlets linking him with a move to Premier League side West Ham.

The interest from Fenerbahce is not new, with a rumoured move to Turkey being close to completion in 2017, but failing at the finalisation stage.

If the move is completed, it would see the 26-year-old play Champions League football again next season, which would be a huge boost for the player.

As Wilshere departs, new Manager Unai Emery is working hard at bringing in new talent to the Emirates this transfer window. Bernd Leno and Stephan Lichtsteiner deals have already been completed this window, and it looks like several more are in the pipeline.

The talks to sign Uruguayan midfielder Lucas Torreira have been advancing rapidly in the past few days, with the Sporting Director of Sampdoria announcing the player has left the club.

In defence, it looks like the transfer of Greek center back Sokratis will be announced on the 1st of July to coincide with the German financial year, which is arguably one of the most important signings that Emery and Sven Mislintat could make, given the Gunners’ shocking defensive form last season.

As well as this, the new rumours about a move for Ever Banega are looking more and more possible with the midfielder’s club Sevilla already signing a ‘replacement’ player in the form of Roque Mesa.

Losing Wilshere is a big blow for a lot of fans, but this transfer window looks to be one of the best yet for Arsenal, and fans of the Gunners are excited to start the season with a whole host of new players.
