£25.5m Arsenal target confirms desire to leave, after being booed by fans

Julian Draxler has once again reiterated his desire to leave Wolfsburg, after he was booed by supporters over the weekend, as per the Mirror.

The German international previously spoke of his intention to move during pre-season, when there was heavy interest from Arsenal and Juventus, as per Bild.

The 23-year-old, who only arrived last year in a club-record £25.5 million deal as per the Guardian, has featured regularly for the German club this season missing just two games through injury. However he hasn’t contributed a single goal or assist.

It’s a contrast to last season when he notched up nine goals and eight assists. The youngster, came on as a substitute against Hertha and was heavily booed by the home fans.

Draxler has admitted that getting booed by his own fans was hard but that he remains steadfast in his desire to leave. According to Mirror, he said:

I don’t think I need to tell anybody what [being booed] does to a person – it certainly doesn’t help you.

There’s no doubt it makes it hard for you to perform on the field.

I can understand the fans, though. They have every right to do that. I said in the summer the way I feel and I stand by that.

The Gunners already have a mouthful in the midfield but with Cazorla’s injury concerns over the past year, the 23-year-old German, who is known for speed, intensity and abilities on the ball, could be a very positive addition to Wenger’s squad for the second half of the season.

Draxler is versatile enough to play on the wings or in the centre, so he could slot in alongside Ozil and Alexis Sanchez. The German would likely jump at the chance to join the Gunners in January or next summer, and could be a viable option to replace Cazorla in the long-term.

The youngster will still cost north of £20 million, and it remains to be seen whether Wenger will be interested to spend that much on a luxury player.
