Sampdoria midfielder Lucas Torreira has dropped a huge hint that he is close to joining Arsenal during this summer’s transfer window.

Torreira is widely expected to leave Sampdoria in the present transfer window with the club’s president already confirming that the Uruguayan has been sold.

Nonetheless, the Gunners supporters are waiting for anything formal to confirm the deal, though the social media interaction suggests that an announcement may be on the brink.

Torreira is presently with his nation at the summer World Cup finals in Russia and so far, he has managed two substitute appearances off the bench.

Uruguay’s final game versus Russia may be decide who comes first in Group A and it will be interesting to see whether Torreira is backed to make his maiden start by Oscar Tabarez.

Irrespective of Torreira’s move, the Gunners’ hierarchy appear to be pushing through a potential deal for Sevilla’s Ever Banega with his representative said to have met with the club’s officials in London.

Unlike Torreira, Banega is said to be available for a cut-price fee if around £12m and the Argentine is understood to be keen on a summer exit after witnessing the surprise departure of director of football Oscar Arias.
